LSU Health New Orleans School of Nursing is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our faculty as a school of nursing excellence within an academic health sciences center environment. Our nursing faculty have the opportunity to educate future nurses at the BSN, MN/MSN, PhD and DNP level, including state-of-the-art simulation laboratories; conduct nursing & interdisciplinary research; engage in faculty practice, including our nurse-run clinics; pursue entrepreneurial and consultative activities; and serve as a nursing leader and development of leadership skills through our Emergent Nurse Leader Program. Under broad review from the Director of Nurse Practitioner Concentrations, the incumbent is responsible for assisting in the daily organization and administration of the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Concentration of study with primary responsibility for the development, implementation, and coordination of student didactic & clinical learning experiences. Incumbent must possess excellent organizational and administrative skills; ability to initiate the design, planning, and coordination of the PMHNP Concentration curriculum (didactic, clinical & simulation instruction) collaboratively with the Director of Nurse Practitioner Concentrations and Associate Dean; Coordinates with the Director of Nurse Practitioner Concentrations and Associate Dean in maintaining the academic concentration in compliance with the Commission on Collegiate Nurse Education's accreditation standards, National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties standards, Louisiana State Board of Nursing standards, and the Louisiana Board of Regents standards; assists in development and management of concentration evaluation process; consults with the Director of Nurse Practitioner Concentrations on faculty and student-related issues; participates in the evaluation of PMHNP faculty; advises students and mentors students on Scholarly Inquiry Projects; participates in clinical practice of the concentration to maintain clinical skills & supervises students in the clinical area; develops and/or actively participates in a program of nursing research; Assists in the preparation of annual reports, and any other report or correspondence required by the SREB, AACN, LSBN or any other authoritative or regulatory body; coordinates courses and collaborates with other nursing school programs to ensure coordination of faculty instructional and clinical teaching assignments; collaborates with the Director of Nurse Practitioner Concentrations on the development, review and revision of admissions, progression and graduation policies and procedures; participates in School of Nursing committees, especially AP&G; Assists in maintaining student records for the PMHNP degree concentration; Ensures maintenance of student credentials to include Nursing Licenses, Malpractice Insurance, BLS, ACLS, and PALS; participates in faculty recruitment and retention efforts; assists in mentoring novice faculty; collaborates with the Director of Nurse Practitioner Concentrations to ensure adequate resources support the concentration and clinical needs; assists the Director of Nurse Practitioner Concentrations and Associate Dean to seek extramural funding to enhance concentration & support research; communicates and coordinates concentration activities with Administration, Office Student Affairs, Faculty and Staff as needed; actively participates in the accomplishment of the applicable goals & objectives of the School of Nursing's Strategic Plan Initiatives; participates actively as a member of the administrative team; maintains involvement in professional organizations and honor societies; other duties as assigned; ambulation with LSU Health Sciences Center campus buildings and travel within the city, state and nation (automobile/airplane, etc.).
Doctorate Degree in Nursing or another appropriate discipline required. A minimum of three years exp. in Graduate Nursing. Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse with unencumbered Louisiana RN and APRN (or eligible to apply for Louisiana licensure). Board certified as a PMHNP or appropriate PMHCNS credentials. Documented record of scholarly activities & community service.
Preferred: Academic Management experience; Active participation in LA Association of Nurse Practitioners; Active participation in regional & national professional nursing organizations; Current or previous formal leadership role in professional nursing associations.
