Xavier University of Louisiana Physician Assistant Program invites applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor of Didactic Education. The position is for a full-time non-tenure-track twelve-month faculty position commencing immediately. The ideal candidate will possess at least a Master's Degree as a Physician Assistant, a Medical Degree, a Pharmacy degree, or a Ph.D. in a related discipline. Post-doctoral training is preferred.
The successful candidate will demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching and advising graduate students. Faculty in the Physician Assistant Program are expected to teach effectively, advise students, contribute to the overall success of the program, and demonstrate a commitment to working with students from diverse backgrounds.
Duties:
In conjunction with the Program Director participate in coordinating, overseeing, teaching, and designing a challenging didactic curriculum while facilitating professional development.
Participate in accreditation activities, accreditation documentation and leading the implementation of quality assurance practices related to the didactic education curriculum, students, and instructors.
Serve as a course instructor in areas where he/she has demonstrated competence and experience and the ability to develop instructional materials in evidence-based practice and research as needed by the program.
Participate in clinical practice or scholarly activities including research and active participation in state or national organizations.
Assist in reviewing and updating the student handbook on an annual basis.
Assist in recruitment and selection of applicants for admission which includes reviewing applications and conducting interviews.
Ensure appropriate counseling, advising, and mentoring of students. Reviews didactic/academic/clinical performance with students as needed.
Provide remedial instruction as needed.
Participate in PA program, college, and university committees and attend related functions.
Maintain clinical competency and knowledge of current best practices within the profession (if a licensed PA, PharmD or MD).

Minimum Qualifications:

● If a PA, PharmD, or MD, prefers at least 3 years of clinical experience.
● Ability to teach the Pharmacotherapeutics series.
● Ability to lead discussion and evaluation of Primary Medical Literature.
● Strong interpersonal skills including written and verbal communication, problem-solving, and critical decision-making abilities.
● Knowledge of and commitment to current trends in physician assistant education.
● Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
● Ability to function independently while operating effectively within a team environment.
● High level of professionalism, leadership, creative problem solving, diplomacy, and the ability to self-manage complex projects, seeking direction as needed.
● Proficiency with MS Office Suite, Internet, and other programs as needed.
● The ability to work with diverse students, faculty, and staff.
● Ability to work highly independently, organize work with extreme attention to detail and accuracy; demonstrated skill in assessing timelines and coordinating numerous assignments and projects simultaneously under heavy and fluctuating workloads and conflicting deadlines.

● Experience with the ARC-PA accreditation process is a plus.
● Familiarity with specific applications used by the University/Department preferred.
● Graduation from ARC-PA accredited physician assistant program.
● Master's Degree in Physician Assistant Studies.
● Ability to coordinate a Master's Capstone Project
● Current NCCPA certification and eligible for licensure in the State of Louisiana. OR ● Currently licensed allopathic or osteopathic physician.
● Certified by an ABMS-or AOA –approved specialty board Louisiana.
Currently licensed Pharmacist – Approved Board Certification.
