Children’s Hospital New Orleans is currently seeking Clinical Pharmacist candidates for services to Emergency Medicine, Pediatric Intensive Care, and Infectious Diseases/Antimicrobial Stewardship. As a member of the Pharmacy Department, the Clinical Pharmacist will provide pharmacy services to their respective areas. The Clinical Pharmacist will work as part of the multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, appropriate, comprehensive, and cost-effective medication therapy.
Job responsibilities include the following:
Participate in multidisciplinary rounds with the medical team, as applicable
Review drug therapies and apply appropriate pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic principles to provide optimal drug therapy recommendations
Interview and counsel patients and/or families regarding safe and effective medication use
Develop and implement clinical practice guidelines to enhance pharmaceutical care and medication safety
Participate in medication-use evaluations and formulary management
Serve as a drug information resource for providers, nurses, fellow pharmacists, and other healthcare providers
Detect and document adverse drug reactions, clinical interventions, and medication errors
Serve as a preceptor for the PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program
Requirements:
Doctor of Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy
PGY1 Pharmacy Residency and/or 3+ years of experience
PGY2 Pharmacy Residency OR PGY1 Pharmacy Residency with 2-4 years of hospital pharmacist practice experience is preferred
Current licensure or eligible for licensure by the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy
