The Department of Medicine – Section of Pulmonary/Critical Care & Allergy/Immunology at The Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC) School of Medicine in New Orleans is seeking an outstanding research scientist to join our clinical faculty at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor of Research. The ideal candidate will have:
1) extensive knowledge of pulmonary pathobiology, immunology, or epidemiology
2) a proven record of successful research mentorship and
3) significant and current independent research funding within the field of pulmonary and critical care medicine.
The successful applicant will be appointed to the Ernest N. Morial Asthma, Allergy, and Respiratory Disease Center Endowed Chair. The holder of this Chair will be responsible for advancing the understanding of pulmonary disease, with particular attention to populations which have experienced significant health disparities. The applicant’s research background may be in basic, translational, clinical, or implementation science. Specific areas of interest to current division faculty include asthma, bronchiectasis, tuberculosis & non-tuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) lung disease, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary hypertension, and critical care, although candidates with a productive research effort in any pulmonary / critical care focus are strongly encouraged to apply. A significant component of the position will include mentoring fellows and junior faculty members in successful research endeavors.
The Section of Pulmonary/Critical Care & Allergy/Immunology consists of 14 faculty members and has an ACGME -accredited training program for 14 pulmonary and critical care fellows.
