Xavier University of Louisiana is accepting applications for the open position of Coordinator for Gender Equality. The Coordinator for Gender Equity plays a vital role in advancing Xavier University of Louisiana's commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable campus environment. This position is responsible for coordinating, developing, and implementing programs and initiatives aimed at promoting gender equity, civic engagement, and diversity across the institution. The coordinator will work collaboratively with student organizations, departments, and offices on campus to create a vibrant and supportive community for all genders. AA/EOE
Key Responsibilities:
Empower Student Leaders:
Collaborate with student organizations to deepen and develop programming related to gender equity and diversity. (e.g., End Period Poverty program).
Provide guidance and support to student leaders in developing impactful initiatives that extend beyond the university walls and engage with the broader community.
Program Development:
Design and lead inter-dialogue circles focused on fostering open and respectful conversations about gender equity, identity, and inclusion. These circles will serve as safe spaces for dialogue, reflection, and learning within the campus community.
Develop and conduct leadership and mentoring workshops that help students and staff explore how their identities shape their leadership styles and how they can contribute to a more just and equitable world.
Continuously learn about current issues and trends related to gender equity, LGBTQ+ rights, and social justice.
Identify opportunities for programming that address the evolving needs of the university community and promote dialogue, awareness, and advocacy.
Foster Collaboration Across Campus:
Collaborate with other departments and offices on campus to integrate gender equity and social justice principles into existing programs and initiatives.
Work to deepen the Office of Inclusion & Social Justice's efforts surrounding Service Saturday Projects, community partnerships, and connecting students to resources outside of campus.
Collaborate with local organizations and community leaders to identify service opportunities, establish partnerships, and facilitate student engagement in community-based initiatives.
Grant Development and Management:
Identify grant opportunities and support the development and submission of grant proposals to secure funding for gender equity and social justice initiatives.
Assist with grant writing, budget development, and reporting requirements to ensure compliance and successful grant implementation.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required
Two to five years of full-time progressive experience in knowledge and practice of student development theory, working in an educational setting, and program development.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability and skills in verbal and written communication, interpersonal relations, advising student organizations, event planning, interacting effectively with a diverse constituency of student, faculty, staff, and administrators, working effectively under pressure, technology and budget management
Expertise in public speaking, writing, group facilitation and computer skills
