Xavier University of Louisiana is accepting applications for the open position of Multimedia Project Coordinator. Applicants for the Multimedia Project Coordinator staff position must primarily maintain production schedules, meet media deadlines and coordinate faculty and students working on departmental projects. The Department of Mass Communication publishes the campus newspaper The Xavier Herald, and its website xulastudentmedia.com. The Department produces a signature broadcast The Xavier Spotlight and special production projects across the academic year. Student organizations within the department produce a wide range of print, broadcast and digital media projects. Faculty also produce grant-supported media projects, digital humanities platforms and collaborations with other departments and colleges on campus. AA/EOE
Minimum Qualifications:
The applicant for the Multimedia Project Coordinator position, therefore, must have prior experience in journalism, traditional and digital content creation and creative storytelling. The applicant should also have pre-and post-production skills including the use of video production and photography cameras, the Adobe Creative Cloud suite and web applications. The applicant should be able to use standard industry editing software. Given the program's emphasis in digital convergence, skills in web content management and digital content creation are highly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
The requirements for the position are a bachelor's degree in the field of mass communication or related discipline, and/or 3-5 years' experience working in mass media fields. The responsibilities of the Multimedia Project Coordinator are:
§ To oversee and supervise all departmental multi-media projects and their accompanying platforms.
§ To create and administer production schedules and to keep deadlines for all faculty and student media projects.
§ To support grant proposal writing, grant supervision and execution; and grant reports.
§ To support media training of faculty and students to enhance media projects quality and standard.
§ To create tutorial videos or perform live tutorials in labs, conduct demonstrations and write how-to manuals on the proper use and handling of all production equipment.
§ To supervise, direct and train work study and student workers.
§ To supervise student projects through departmental organizations or through courses or grants.
§ To upload/stream/publish student produced content to Mass Communication websites, Television and Radio Platforms etc. and the department's social media accounts on a weekly rolling basis.
§ To advise and support student and faculty media projects.
