Position Summary: The Associate Director of Development is a professional fundraising position for the Green Wave Club. The successful candidate will identify prospective donors, cultivate donor relationships, and solicit donations or gifts of $10,000 or more from individuals, corporations, or foundations in conjunction with Athletics’ strategic priorities and objectives. This position is involved with all aspects of generating private donor support for Tulane Athletics and will assist the Assistant Athletic Director, Development in the marketing efforts of the Olive and Blue Society and the stewardship of both Olive and Blue Society and Green Wave Club members.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Actively seeks to grow Green Wave Club and Olive and Blue Society membership by maintaining a monthly minimum level of personal visits, appointments, and calls. Specifically focuses on donors that annually contribute $10,000 or more to the athletics department. Target number of visits and appointments to be determined based on internal goals and objective. Identifies, cultivates, and solicits annual fund and major gift donations or monetary giving commitments from donors. Develops a prospect pipeline and creates, manages, and advances effective relationships with assigned prospects toward the goal of appropriate solicitation. Funnels potential gift leads to appropriate team members based on agreed upon internal structure for processing various gift levels. Keeps accurate records of visits, phone calls, appointment attempts and enters information into database accurately and timely. Offers and helps donors navigate the various giving vehicles appropriately. Visits donors as directed or as appropriate in an effort to promote fundraising endeavors and coordinates with supervisor as necessary. (70%)
2. In coordination with Assistant Athletic Director, Major Gifts, this position will coordinate development initiatives related to major gift fundraising, monitoring strategies, assignments, and contacts for athletics prospect pools. Works in concert with Green Wave Club staff in executing general fundraising operations, benefit distributions and special events. (25%)

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and at least two (2) years of direct fundraising or transferable experience (marketing, admissions, public relations, alumni relations, volunteer management, or sales experience); OR a High School Diploma/equivalent and eight (8) years of direct fundraising or transferable experience (marketing, admissions, public relations, alumni relations, volunteer management, or sales experience).
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities/Competencies:
Experience writing and preparing fundraising solicitations, proposals and/or marketing materials.
Proactively uses prospect identification, research, and qualification processes to generate prospects and implement strategies to drive giving.
Comprehensive understanding of various giving vehicles such as bequests, DAF’s, gifts of securities or assets that donors giving at higher levels would utilize.
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication, public speaking, and presentation skills.
Excellent organizational skills, to include the ability to prioritize projects and meet established deadlines.
Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends as necessary in the performance of assigned duties is required.
Must have the ability to demonstrate uncompromised judgment and discretion regarding interpersonal relationships both internally and externally.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality and use upmost discretion when privy to sensitive
Must have truly outstanding customer service and demonstrated skill in interpersonal, verbal, and written communication.

Proficient computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and other software necessary to the development operation.

Thorough knowledge of NCAA and American Athletic Conference rules and
Preferred Qualifications:
College athletics or higher education fundraising experience.
Working knowledge of Advance and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
NCAA Related: Ensures that all Department of Athletics and University related activities operate in full compliance with university, conference and NCAA rules and regulations. Attends and participates in scheduled compliance seminars and complies with all the Athletic Department’s efforts to monitor compliance with NCAA regulations. Seeks interpretations from the compliance staff before acting when necessary. Reports potential rules violations immediately. Completes required compliance paperwork in a timely and efficient manner. Monitors all of their areas and/or programs activities closely to maintain compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
