We’re seeking a Pediatric Hospitalist to work in the Level IV NICU at Ochsner Baptist Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana. This physician will enhance first-line clinical coverage of patients in the Ochsner Health System NICU. The ideal candidate will be board certified or eligible in General Pediatrics with recent training and/or experience in a Level II, III or IV NICU.
Responsibilities include taking care of patients requiring level I, II, and III neonatal care with varying degrees of acuity and performing procedures including but not limited to intubation, lumbar puncture, and umbilical arterial and venous line placements. Board-certified neonatologists are always present for support and consultation. This team member will report to the NICU Medical Director. The hospitalist will also attend high-risk deliveries, providing initial resuscitation and stabilization to infants after delivery and in the newborn nursery. Patient load will be 8-10 patients per shift. The NICU hospitalist will work 15-16 days per month with no night shifts.
Teaching responsibilities include providing clinical experience and education to third-year medical students from the University of Queensland medical school as part of their Pediatrics rotation.
