Position Summary
St. George’s Episcopal School is seeking an experienced Speech-Language Pathologist to work in the Resource Services program for the 2022-2023 school year. The Resource Services program is seeking an enthusiastic and creative candidate who demonstrates a growth mindset and possesses strong verbal and written communication skills. At St. George’s, we look to employ educators who value team collaboration to optimize our students’ educational success. This Resource Services team member will fulfill an important role on our Early Childhood students’ teaching teams by planning skilled speech-language therapy and intervention services. This specialist will be responsible for screening, providing therapy, and parent communication, as well as writing Student Education Plans (SEPs) to document students’ targeted goals/objectives for intervention.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Establish child-specific learning goals for each student on an SEP at the beginning of the school year based on data; update these goals and objectives two additional times during the year.
- Conduct SEP meetings with parents three times a year; effectively communicate students’ progress and needs with parents and teaching team.
- Plan and implement activities to target the specific speech-language needs of the students during speech-language therapy sessions.
- Provide a variety of ongoing assessments to be used for benchmark and baseline testing and progress monitoring.
- Manage time to meet deadlines, to adhere to a daily schedule and to structure speech-language therapy sessions to maximize opportunities for student learning.
- Lead students to use their own critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Guide student behavior through respect and a positive approach.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers regularly to support students’ educational needs.
- Complete speech-language and academic screenings.
- Consult with outside professionals as needed to support students’ educational progress.
- Be an active member in the life of the St. George’s community.
Qualification Requirements
- Master’s degree and current licensure in speech-language pathology
- Experience working with students who have language-based learning difficulties
- Proficiency with Google Workspace and technology-based educational tools
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team and collaborate
- Outstanding organizational and time management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills which prove effective in communicating with students, parents and co-workers
- Desire to respond to and initiate the solving of problems through clear and open conversation
- A sense of integrity and ethics and an ability to carry out responsibilities in accordance with the school’s policies and procedures
Working Conditions / Physical Demands:
- Must be physically able to operate computers and office equipment
- Occasional bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling and twisting; constant walking, speaking and listening; close visual attention to the computer
- Occasional lifting up to 50lbs
