Xavier University of Louisiana is accepting applications for the position of Director of Campaign Operations. The Director of Campaign Operations will serve on the University's senior advancement team and will be an inspirational leader, as well as colleague, to Xavier's Office of Institutional Advancement. As a key member of the University advancement team, the Director will report to the Vice President for University Advancement and function as one of the campaign's key liaisons with the University President, Campaign Volunteers, Boards, Provost, Deans, faculty, staff, alumni and other friends of the University. Responsible for seeking and acquiring wide-ranging support for university campaign initiatives and priorities, the Director of Campaign Operations will be responsible for: campaign strategy, including establishing solicitation priorities, managing prospect lists, developing and executing targeted cultivation plans and solicitation strategies for a range of projects, preparing and providing support to staff, board members and volunteers for solicitation, and planning and managing campaign-related cultivation events. The Director will also: oversee campaign operations in conjunction with leadership; supervise the preparation and delivery of campaign reports; review and approve a wide array of solicitations and proposals; support the identification and solicitation of major gift prospects; provide supervisory functions for major gift fundraisers; and directly participate in fundraising by actively assisting with major gift prospects, including solicitations as appropriate. Bachelor's degree required.
A proven ability to lead, motivate, and mentor both internal I.A. staff and high-level volunteers (board members) residing nation-wide.
Demonstrable experience working within a comprehensive university capital campaign.
A minimum of 5 – 7 years of experience in major gift fundraising that includes the direct management of professional fundraising staff.
Master's degree preferred.
A strong track-record of raising significant major gifts, as well as the personal energy, enthusiasm, and drive to set and achieve ambitious campaign-related planning and implementation benchmarks and goals.
A collegial, collaborative, and accessible leadership style and the ability to adapt to — and lead within — changing circumstances and environments.
A willingness to serve as a proactive and responsive partner to administrators, faculty, and staff across the university, effectively addressing both opportunities and concerns. Also, to engage academic leadership and faculty in the fundraising process, assisting them in building and strengthening relationships with alumni and friends (to leverage the interest and support of their most successful constituents and stakeholders).
An ability to lead by example, helping the V.P. with fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and professional growth.
Inspire, motivate, and actively mentor staff with transparent communication and an open, inclusive approach.
Strong familiarity with best practices—to utilize clear, measurable performance metrics and strengthening a culture of accountability through the use of data and performance dashboards.
