Purpose of the Position: Provides care to client employees and/or contractors and visitors to the health center. Responsible for the development and administration of efficient and professional operations of occupational health services in accordance with company policies, practices, procedures, and applicable regulations to achieve the desired goals and objectives. Assists with all aspects of health services staffing, competency, processes, customer service, leave management and quality improvement.
Oversees the overall management of a small size health center (single nurse site)
Provides a moderate amount of time (approximately 50%), dedicated to patient care and 50% of time is spent in administrative work, including leave management
Manages and monitors all daily operational processes
Maintains a clean and safe environment. Follows infection control procedures.
Manages daily operations, workflow, work schedules, etc. to ensure efficient and effective Health Center performance.
Identifies process improvement opportunities and presents resolutions and recommendations to the Director of Client Operations.
Understands and complies with all regulatory, procedural, policy and licensing requirements
Completes incident reports as needed and provides assistance to the Medical Care and Outcomes dept. regarding investigations and the resolution of complaints
Ensures the implementation of corporate messages, policies and procedures are followed
Manages internal budget, reviews expenses, purchases supplies, inventories equipment, medication etc. where appropriate
Assists in the identification and scheduling of local per diem
Interaction with client representatives
Evaluates and treats all injuries and illnesses in an efficient and professional manner within scope of practice
Maintains patient privacy and confidential patient information
Assess healthcare needs, then implement and manage healthcare programs to improve health and facilitate return to work, maintain OSHA records/reports and worker medical files
Maintains medical records
Collaborates with Physician to arrange for further medical treatment, when needed
Collaborate with outside resources for program development, such as healthcare providers, third-party administrators, legal advisors, medical director, regulatory agencies, etc.
Conducts appropriate laboratory tests and quality control procedures
Assures compliance with regulatory requirements related to clinical operations
Provides or manages the required physical evaluation programs and services to meet regulatory requirement; such as OSHA, Department of Transportation, CDC, etc.
Administers the company’s Drug-Free Workplace Program
Performs occupational and health screening tests as defined in site contract (may include EKG, audiometry, spirometry, vision)
Assists with the accident investigation program to identify root cause analysis of all incidents and near misses
Assess departments with identifying, evaluating, and implementing accommodations and return to work options for workers with restricted duty
Collaborate with Environmental Health and Safety, Operations, and Human Resources to develop operations, programs, and services by providing content expertise.
Contribute in the design of controls for injury prevention and health surveillance related to actual and potential hazards in the work environment
Identify primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention and health promotion strategies to optimize health of the population
Documents accurately all elements of assessment, treatments, medications administered, discharge instructions provided, and follow up care arranged
Identifies emergency situations and provides care within legal scope of practice
Identifies equipment that needs repair and brings it to the attention of the Group Health Center Manager or Director of Client Operations
Participates in follow up phone calls and follow up patient visits
Works collaboratively with the Group Health Center Manager or Director of Operations to manage internal site issues
Other duties as assigned
Currently licensed Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant in state of practice
Current Certification in AHA or ARC Basic Life Support for health care providers is required
Excellent computer skills (Internet software, spreadsheet, word processing etc.)
Demonstrated problem-solving and work flow management skills
At least three years’ experience as a Registered Nurse in an occupational health clinic, emergency room, or other ambulatory care clinic.
Experience with Leave Management
Occupational Health experience is preferred but not required
Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of Internet software, Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records preferred.
Knowledge of workplace health and safety concepts and OSHA regulations preferred.
