The Department of Theology at Xavier University of Louisiana invites applicants for a full-time one-year visiting assistant professor position beginning August 2021. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in Theology, Th.D., or D.Min.
The successful applicant will teach four classes per semester at the undergraduate level and be committed to working with students from diverse backgrounds. The ability and willingness to work collegially with a 4-4 teaching load are essential. Ideal applicants should have the ability to teach face-to-face as well as online classes and a willingness to contribute to the growth and recruitment of the undergraduate Theology program.
The Department of Theology at Xavier values teaching and research as essential components of education; many of our undergraduate students engage in independent research directly mentored by faculty. The Department of Theology's goal is to prepare Xavier students for careers that are impactful through leadership and service. The Theology Program promotes a more just and humane society within the context of faith and theological reflection. It enables students to understand the discourse of the human experience of God through a historical critical approach. The department is particularly interested in applicants who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds, minimizing barriers, and increasing equity and completion rates between members of different demographic groups.

Xavier University of Louisiana, founded by St. Katharine Drexel and the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament in 1925, is Catholic and historically Black.
