The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences invites applicants for a full-time board eligible/board certified licensed Addiction Medicine Physician, at the rank of Instructor, Assistant Professor or Associate Professor rank. Clinical responsibilities will include addiction consults to help the consult teams in psychiatry, medicine, and surgery for more comprehensive patient care at the Tulane Medical Center (TMC) and other contracted sites. The selected candidate will provide medical evaluation of patients including a multisystem medical history, multisystem medical examination, review of diagnostic studies, diagnosis and medication and psychosocial management of addiction and related conditions and provide assessment for co-occurring conditions and provision or continuation of care or referral for appropriate assessment and care. Teaching responsibilities include the supervision of addiction medicine, psychiatry residents and medical students rotating through the clinical facilities serviced by this position. The position also includes teaching in the didactic series in addiction medicine and adult psychiatry, as well as presenting at adult psychiatry grand rounds.
• Candidate must be professionally competent and be board eligible/certified in addiction medicine. • Successful completion of an accredited Addiction Medicine fellowship training program. • Candidate must be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Louisiana and have a current state and federal narcotics number and a DATA 2000 waiver to prescribe buprenorphine. • Candidates must be eligible for clinical privileges at Tulane Medical Center (TMC) under the appropriate staff category and must agree to abide by those privileges as outlined by the current bylaws of these institutions.
