St. Martin’s Episcopal School, located in Metairie, Louisiana, seeks an experienced Director of Enrollment Management to join its Advancement team. St. Martin’s offers an independent, faith-based, college-preparatory education from early childhood through grade 12. The school seeks a qualified individual to manage and direct all aspects of the Enrollment Management Office. The director plans and leads recruitment, enrollment, and retention initiatives and events; oversees all admissions processes and records; works with the Marketing and Communications Office to develop and execute the admissions marketing communications plan; and administers the school’s tuition assistance program.
The Director of Enrollment Management is also a member of the senior leadership team and reports to the Head of School and to the Director of Institutional Advancement. The director is responsible for recruitment, admission, retention, and tuition assistance. This includes overseeing an enrollment management team of three, and working hand-in-hand with the Director of Institutional Advancement and Director of Marketing and Communications to advance the mission of the school; working cooperatively with senior leadership and the Board of Trustees; and working with the Director of Marketing and Communications to develop strategic plans to position St. Martin’s in the competitive New Orleans school market. The director plays a vital role in the St. Martin’s community, providing leadership and setting the school’s recruitment and enrollment management strategies and goals, and takes initiative to conduct research, do community outreach, and stay abreast of best practices within the enrollment management and admission field.
The director will be a dynamic, highly skilled, and visionary leader who is able to develop a strategic plan for enrollment management and lead a collaborative effort to implement both short-term and long-term recruitment strategies to ensure St. Martin’s meets enrollment and tuition revenue objectives. The ideal candidate will be a data-driven decision-maker; an experienced admission and financial aid professional; and a creative leader in admission, recruitment, and retention.
Represent St. Martin’s to the school, to the broader community, and to prospective families while communicating the school’s mission; engage and inform prospective parents and students about St. Martin’s and the benefits of an Episcopal education on an individual, small group, and large group basis.
Create, lead, and manage a comprehensive enrollment program that incorporates best practices in recruitment, admissions, retention, record management, registration, and tuition assistance.
Oversee and manage all aspects of admissions events.
Oversee admissions committees in all three divisions, as well as early childhood (George Cottage) enrollment.
Attend admissions-related outreach programs during the school year.
Manage and administer the school’s tuition assistance budget, and work closely with the school’s CFO on both yearly and long-term tuition assistance goals.
Collaborate with the Director of Marketing and Communications to develop brand identity and messaging for St. Martin’s through school publications, webpages, admissions materials, and other media vehicles; develop and lead a communications plan to move prospective families from inquiry to enrollment; monitor and assess data to evaluate the effectiveness of recruitment efforts including social media, marketing, and emerging technologies.
Inform school leadership about current research, demographics, and admission and enrollment trends, ensuring that changes and challenges are anticipated, understood, and addressed; collaborate on high-level institutional demographic research projects, including market research surveys to students and families offered enrollment to gauge their decision process and their experience of our admissions process.
Maintain statistical and trend data related to enrollment, assessing student demographic data to ensure alignment with the school’s mission.
Inspire the community to actively participate in admissions events including individual and group tours, student shadow visits, curricular information sessions, student observations/testing/interviews, family-to-family connections, and individual family conversations.
Establish and maintain positive relationships and networking opportunities with area educational constituencies including schools, preschools, consultants, admissions directors, and organizations; cultivate relationships with non-profit organizations working with underserved youth.
Coordinate systematic and efficient processing of applications and communications with parents of applicants, so that the process supports and honors the students and their families.
Manage parent and student expectations and deliver admissions decisions in a manner that is honest, caring, and diplomatic.
Manage and work collaboratively with the admissions staff; provide clear communication regarding responsibilities, practices, and feedback; lead and engage direct reports by establishing performance expectations; analyze key performance indicators; coach and mentor the admissions team; provide feedback and resolve concerns in a timely and fair manner.
Cultivate internal relationships and work collaboratively with fellow administrators, faculty, and staff to showcase St. Martin’s for current and prospective families.
Manage the admissions budget.
This position is a full-time, 12-month, staff position beginning the summer of 2021.
A bachelor’s degree and five years of progressively responsible admission management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
