Position: Dragon Camp Teacher

Reports to: Director of Dragon Camp

Schedule: Monday-Friday, Full-day or Half-day

Full-day: 7:45 a.m. - 3:45 p.m., with 1 After Care session per week (3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.)

Half-day: 7:45 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.

After Care only: 3:15 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Position Summary:

St. George’s Episcopal School is searching for enthusiastic, creative teachers to work at Dragon Camp for the summer of 2021. Candidates who are warm, energetic and reliable are likely to be successful team members at St. George’s. Dragon Camp is a summer day camp for children 12 months - entering 3rd grade. Dragon Camp provides a safe, exciting and engaging program that focuses on the interests of the children in each classroom. Children will engage in a variety of small-group, whole-group and outside-play activities, including water play. In the classroom, teachers use the Project Approach to build on children’s natural curiosity and engage them in learning about the world around them. In Grades 1-3, children engage with STEAM-focused activities to promote mathematical and investigative thinking. 

Dragon Camp Sessions: 

Session 1:  June 14 - July 2, 2021 (Required orientation and classroom set-up: Sunday, June 13th)

Session 2:  July 12 - July 30, 2021 (Required orientation and classroom set-up: Sunday, July 11th)

Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Oversees planning and implementation of classroom curriculum. Responsible for the daily implementation of program activities
• Communicates verbally with the camp director on a daily basis
• Ensures safety and well-being of all campers at all times
• Ensures classroom is kept clean and orderly

• Attends orientation; organizes pre-session set-up and end of session clean-up 
• Maintains regular contact with parents
• Attends any and all training, planning sessions and staff meetings at the discretion of the camp director
• Adheres to all policies, procedures and guidelines as outlined at staff orientation and in the handbook, including those related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
• Experience working with preschool/lower school-age children is strongly preferred.
• Experience with or interest in applying the Project Approach framework and/or STEAM education.
