The Division of Education and Counseling at Xavier University of Louisiana invites applicants for a tenure track position in Educational Leadership at the assistant professor level to begin fall 2021.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching and research with graduate and doctoral students. The teaching load will consist of 3 courses in the fall and 3 courses in the spring. The department is particularly interested in candidates who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds, minimizing barriers, and increasing equity and completion rates between members of different demographic groups.
Responsibilities:
• Teach online and remote courses in the MA and EDD Leadership programs; • Academic advising, mentoring students; • Serve as a dissertation advisor and on dissertation committees; • Demonstrate excellence in research, with the potential for securing external funding; • Participate in service activities for the department, university, and community; and • Establish a research agenda, publishing in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals related to educational leadership.
Required Qualifications:
Ability to teach in Higher Education;
Competency in online teaching via interactive pedagogy;
Strong commitment to teaching nine semester hours per semester;
Demonstrate a strong potential for excellence in teaching and mentoring graduate scholars;
Establish a record of research productivity;
Demonstrate a commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population.
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctorate in Educational Leadership from an accredited college or university.
Experience teaching online/hybrid courses.
Assess to the appropriate tools to conduct online classes
Advanced training beyond the Doctorate in Higher Education or related field.
Expertise in qualitative and quantitative methodology
Expertise in leading effective change at the school, district, organization level in settings serving students from diverse economic and ethnic backgrounds;
