This job assumes responsibility for the collection, organization, analysis, and dissemination of information on medication utilization. Integrate its activities with the clinical, safety, procurement, prescribing, administration and distribution systems to optimize medication use within Ochsner Medical Center. Assumes responsibility of compliance with regulatory agencies, best practices, patient quality, and pharmacoeconomics to guide practice. Integrally involved in formulary management, medication policy compliance, and Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee initiatives.
Evaluates pharmacoeconomic impact of pharmacy policy.
Assures continual regulatory compliance.
Educates staff, students, patients, providers and other health care professionals.
Participates in professional development and continuing education.
Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
Required - School/College of Pharmacy degree
Preferred - PGY1 Residency
Required - 1 year experience in Drug Information, Informatics or similar field
Required - Licensed to practice pharmacy in the State of Louisiana or eligible for licensure
Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals.
Knowledge and understanding of the research process including funding, design and compliance issues.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Strong leadership/teaching skills.
